It seems the original paint job on the C6 did not hold up very well, even with the few miles it had traveled since the project was first completed. The C6 was a beast, both in ability and appearance. It was finally time to make it beautiful. We took the transmission to a local shop where it was disassembled so the case could be powder-coated. The case along with the tail housing and a new TCI brand aluminum transmission pan were sent out to Gateway Powder Coating for the full treatment. The paint chosen is from their “Illusion” line called Blueberry. There, it was cleaned, taped and sandblasted before being painted. Once complete, it went back to the transmission shop to be reassembled. When it was finished, it was truly a thing of beauty. It was the beginnings of what was to come during this major transformation. The transfer case and driveline would all receive the same treatment. At least now, the transmission was finally worthy of being on full display.
