When we began disassembling our truck a long, long time ago, in a land far, far away, we knew we were going to need new headlights. The factory lights were pitted and aged after years and years of flying rocks, bugs and other missiles hitting them day after day. Fortunately, DirectAuto.com offered to help and provided us with a set of brand new aftermarket headlight assemblies. These are the same ones you can order right off their web site. Needless to say, we are very grateful for their help.

When the new lights arrived, we realized that the attention to detail is not as meticulous as is a factory replacement. But these are very high in quality. We first had to black out the outer edge of the turn signal lens in order to prevent ‘leakage’ of light around the chrome trim. The factory lights are already masked. So we used some black paint and a small paint brush to darken the plastic all around the lens.

The next step was to prep the front clip for the light assemblies. We used some black paint again, and we went over every nut and bolt that we could see in the installation area. We wanted to ensure that rust has no home. Once dry, we were then able to install the lights into the sheet metal. Lastly, we went over the new fasteners with more black paint.

All that’s left is to install the bulbs and plug in the wiring harness.
